Privacy Disclosure

UC Santa Cruz values the privacy of our donors. The personal information you provide is maintained confidentially and used solely for university business. It will not be disclosed without your consent, except for certain documented circumstances in which disclosure is required by law. You may review your data on file by sending an inquiry to the Assistant Vice Chancellor Advancement Services, University Relations, UC Santa Cruz, 1156 High Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95064. One of the ways we express our gratitude for your gift is by listing the names of donors in Campus publications, such as the Review and Annual Report. By making a gift to UC Santa Cruz, you may be recognized in this way. Should you prefer that your name not be published, please notify the Donor Stewardship Office at (831) 459-1670, orgiving@ucsc.edu.

Tax Deductibility and Tax ID numbers

All gifts made to the UC Santa Cruz Foundation or the UC Regents are irrevocable and tax-deductible as prescribed by law. The tax identification number for the UC Santa Cruz Foundation is 23-7394590. The tax identification number for the UC Regents, Santa Cruz campus is 94-1539563. Canadian residents should refer to the Canadian Revenue Agency for information on tax-deductibility (http://www.cra.gc.ca).


Fiduciary Responsibility of the UC Santa Cruz Foundation

The UC Santa Cruz Foundation is a California non-profit, public benefit corporation organized for the purpose of encouraging voluntary private gifts, trusts and bequests for the benefit of the UC Santa Cruz campus. Responsibility for governance of the Foundation, including investments, is vested in its Board of Directors.

Recovery of Operating Costs from Private Gifts

As is customary with universities and other non-profit organizations across the country, a small portion of every gift is reserved to provide essential support to UC Santa Cruz's overall operation. As of July 1, 2010, that amount is 6%.

Donor Bill of Rights

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence when donating to UC Santa Cruz, we declare that all donors have these rights: A Donor Bill of Rights.

Credit Card Transactions

Some features of this site enable credit card transactions. These features are completely voluntary to members. They include the purchasing of tickets or merchandise through event stores or donations through the site. The operators of this site would like to assure you that measures have been taken to make such transactions secure for its members.

In addition, this site participates in the Better Business Bureau Online Reliability Seal Program to further ensure the security of your transactions. The processing of online transactions is done by Bank of America.

Shortly after a purchase or refund is processed, you will receive a confirmation via e-mail. You are advised to print out and save a copy of the order confirmation for verification necessary to request refunds or resolve any disputes.

This Web site guarantees that every transaction will be 100 percent safe. This means you are not responsible for unauthorized transactions posted to your credit card that occur as a result of submitting a credit card number to this site. It encrypts all of your personal information including name, address, and credit card number to prevent unauthorized access as the information travels over the Internet.

Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, your bank cannot hold you liable for more than $50.00 of fraudulent charges. If your bank does hold you liable for any of this $50.00, this site will cover the entire liability for you, up to the full $50.00. This site will cover this liability only if the unauthorized use of your credit card resulted through no fault of your own from transactions made at this site while using the secure server.

This is a community site that is based primarily on member input. This site cannot guarantee the accuracy of information presented. However, anyone demonstrated to have engaged in fraudulent behavior may be subject to (but not limited to) loss of privileges as a member as well as face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
